In 2021, I spent half the year living on East Hastings Street in Vancouver while studying at the Vancouver Film School. Living there was both eye-opening and challenging; the stark contrast between severe mental health crises and the city’s wealthiest areas was often just a block apart.

During this time, I immersed myself in the there culture, meeting and listening to the regular faces who called it home. Their stories were raw, unfiltered, and deeply human, shaping my perspective in ways I hadn’t expected.

Unfortunately, a significant portion of my photos from this trip were lost when my bag containing a hard drive, backup camera, and other belongings was stolen. While it’s frustrating to have lost those images, the experiences and connections I made during my time there remain unforgettable.

After moving from one Hastings Street to another, this time on the other side of the world I returned to some of my favorite photography spots around the Noosa region. Revisiting these locations allowed me to document the subtle and dramatic changes in the landscape over time, from shifting coastlines to the evolving shapes of trees. This process deepened my appreciation for the way nature transforms, reminding me that even familiar places are never truly the same.
