Lighthouse Rd, Byron Bay NSW

2020 was a significant year, marked by a few major road trips that deeply influenced my photography. The first took me to Byron Bay, where I had the opportunity to capture the region’s stunning vegetation and diverse wildlife. The second was a journey to 1770, near Agnes Water—both locations were equally breathtaking, making it impossible to choose a favorite. This year also saw my first collaborative piece with Eliza Rowan, taken at Lake Weyba in Noosa. Additionally, I spent time exploring and photographing the surrounding Noosa Hinterland and its lush rainforests, capturing the raw beauty of these landscapes.

A large portion of my 2020 photography was captured on a 35mm film camera. Many of these shots were experimental, as I was developing them myself—each roll carried an element of mystery, with no certainty about how the final images would turn out. The process was both challenging and exciting, pushing me to embrace imperfections and unexpected results. Film photography remains a craft I deeply enjoy, and it’s something I hope to explore even more in the future.

RE-EDIT.

This powerful collection, titled Lady Wyba, was my first collaborative piece with Eliza Rowan. Shot at Lake Weyba, Noosa, Australia, it centers on the raw, unedited beauty of the human form. Our vision for this series was to break down the physical and psychological barriers we construct to hide our true selves from the world.
Originally planned as a fully digital shoot, we ultimately decided to incorporate 35mm film to further emphasize the raw, organic nature of the project. It was a decision I wouldn’t change—the results were nothing short of superb. Captured on Ilford XP2 400 and lightly refined in Lightroom CC, the final images embody the authenticity and vulnerability we aimed to express.

Here are the remaining photographs from my 2020 collection, many of which were taken in the Noosa Hinterland. This series showcases the region’s rich landscapes, from dense rainforests to open, rolling hills, capturing the natural beauty and ever-changing light of the environment. Each image reflects my ongoing exploration of composition, texture, and the unique character of the Australian landscape.
