For the release of the Wattle & Gumnuts homewares collection, I wanted to create pieces that were both functional and visually striking. One of the biggest challenges—both for this collection and my work in general—has been balancing the line between homewares and sculpture. While I’ve crafted many vases since starting this collection, not all of them feel like they belong under the homewares label.
The one guiding principle for this collection was to avoid using a pottery wheel. Instead, I wanted each piece, even in a full dinner set, to be completely unique—no two plates identical, each carrying its own character and imperfections. To me, that individuality is what makes this collection special.
